Vortex Magazine and Rye Room Session

I’m humbled and smiling ear to ear today. In the midst of all the recent chaos, both locally and globally, it has been hard to find joy. But… I was pleasantly surprised by the kind people at Vortex Magazine (Portland’s finest music publication, if ya ask me), and their generous words about my music. I don’t take this kind of thing/recognition lightly. As an artist, I so often throw my music into the giant, dark, abyss that is the internet, say a prayer, and cross my fingers, hoping someone may like it. It means the world, like really, to receive such kind press. Vortex Magazine is featuring my Rye Room Session this week; a cover of Cat Steven’s “Wild World”, one of my all time faves… Thank you so much to the amazing people at @theryeroom and Merlin Showalter who captured the live performance of me playing and singing… Oh, also… Fellow musicians, I highly recommend The Rye Room in Portland, OR if you’re looking for a place to record your music. You won’t find a more talented or good person than Matt Greco. He’s the dude with all the musical mojo. Call him.

Thanks for listening. Love and  out.

New Video and Collaboration with Evynne Hollens

Hello, Friends! 🙂

I am SO SO SO excited to post this new video, a collaboration with my dear and talented friend, Evynne Hollens. Evynne is no stranger to beautiful ballads and her voice is absolutely stunning! Getting to sing this special Sarah McLachlan song with her was a total joy. The tune is from Toy Story 2 (for all you Disney fans), and it brings me to tears every time I hear it! I truly hope that you enjoy this song as much as we loved making it!

Love you all, and I will be back soon with another video… Please share this with friends and family who you think would be interested.

Oh, also… I got a hair cut. 🙂

Bye for now! xo

5 New Music Videos this year! (…and one releasing in a few days!)

Dear, Friends and Family –

Wow – So much to tell you…
Here’s what’s new…

What an incredibly busy, challenging, but exciting year this has been. In addition to moving to Portland and teaching full time at a new job, I have embarked on a unique way of releasing music through a platform called “Patreon“. Some of you may have heard of bands likePENTATONIX or a show called “The Liturgist’s Podcast” by Michael Gungor. I have joined the likes of these amazing creators on a website called Patreon. Patreon is a way for fans and supporters (like you) to help their favorite creators produce and release content on a regular basis. (A lot of amazing artists are able to make music because of Patreon! Check it out!)

Some of you might not know how Patreon works yet… Here the low-down:
If you are just now learning about this whole Patreon thing, it’s quite simple, actually! It works like this: If you want to support an artist on Patreon, you pledge an amount (like a jog-a-thon) per music video release. Each time the artist releases a video, the artist receives your pledge. For instance; I make about one or two music videos max per month. My “patrons” give anywhere from $1 and up each time I release a song online. When I release the video, I receive my patron’s pledges. Pretty straight forward, right? 🙂

OH YEAH! I almost forgot the best part… My Patrons get REWARDS! All of my incredible Patrons get rewarded for their pledges because I love them so much and could not make music without them! The rewards range from free downloads of my music to full blown house concerts! Check out my rewards here if you are interested in becoming a Patron. 🙂

Right now I have 50 amazing Patrons. We are hoping to grow this number to 60 by summer. My Patrons give me feedback on videos, submit song requests, and have direct communication with me on my Patreon homepage. But most importantly: my Patrons are literally making independent music possible for me right now. Without them, I could not do it. True story.

In addition to my Patron’s support, I have a friend named Derich Hartfeil who is filming the videos and helping me create them. HE IS AMAZING. We are having a blast and learning a ton as we go. We are on our way to meeting our Patreon pledge goal, but we have a ways to go before we are able to cover all of our costs.

Check out what we’ve created so far below! I’ve included all of my music videos below for you to see. Oh, and don’t forget to watch the ending part of each video! After all of my music videos, I talk a little bit about the song and give you a bit of insight as to why I wrote it or chose to cover it. You get to know me a little better, and sometimes I tell amusing jokes. 🙂

If any of these songs speak to you, move you, or brighten your day, and you would like to help us grow this music venture, feel free to swing by my Patreon Page and become a “Patron”.

A HUGE SHOUT-OUT to everyone who has already become a Patron! I thank God for you, seriously, every day! You are helping me fulfill this music calling I feel in my life.

I hope the music videos fill you with cheer, hope, or connect with you in an authentic way.
(…because that’s why I do it!)

Y’all are amazing and, truly, I could NOT do this without you!

Thank you for your continued support.

Love, love, love!

New Music Video: SPEAK TO A GIRL

Hello, dear friends and (country) music fans!
The Patreon journey continues! I SO enjoyed creating this cover with my dear friend, Nate Botsford. Here is our rendition of Faith Hill and Tim McGraw’s brand new single, “Speak to a Girl”. Please share it with anyone who might be interested!

Patrons, THANK YOU for helping create this video –  (I can’t make these without your help!) Watch Speak to a Girl here!

… If you’ve been enjoying the videos we are making, please consider becoming a patron for as little as $1 per video! (We create 1-2 videos/month.) Every dollar we make goes to the creation of these songs and videos, and we literally cannot do it without you!

The Secret Society show was THEE BEST!

Here’s a photo from last night; which was just a little slice of heaven… Playing music with my friends is pretty much what I live for. It was a great night at one of my favorite venues in Portland. The Secret Society Ballroom delivered in every way!! If you were able to make it out, I thank you from the bottom of my heart. Music is one of those things that takes so much time, work, and effort; and yet, I do it all for moments like last night: a great group of humans all in one room, sharing in a musical experience, making memories to last a lifetime! Love you all, and that is no joke. This one will go down as a night to remember!

New Original Song and Music Video Release: “Gonna Be OK”

Hey Friends! (Please share this with folks you think would be interested…)

WOW! Ok!! SO!! The next video is here (and the Patreon journey continues). This original song is very special to me. If you watch all the way to the very end of the video, I disclose why this song is so important to me and I talk about the meaning behind it… Also, fun fact: After every music video I release on Patreon, I talk about the video and tell the story behind it! It’s a fun way for you to get some behind-the-scenes info about the song, and hear the story behind it. So stay tuned till the video is over for the inside scoop!

A huge shout out to my Patreon supporters. Thank you SO MUCH! I couldn’t have made this video without you!

Friends: If you like what I am creating and writing, and you’d like to support these creative efforts, you can do so on Patreon by going here. Even pledging $1 per video helps us continue to spread the music, light, and love around!
